WATCH: Real Madrid Signing Theo Hernandez’s Embarrassing Juggle Fail
Theo Hernandez has just risked the wrath of half a city to cross the line and move from Atletico to Real Madrid. Judging by his introduction to the Bernabeu faithful, it’s not going to be a smooth transition.
The 19-year-old tried and failed to do the simplest of juggles with the ball – the kind of keep-me-ups most pros can do with their eyes closed.
Maybe six is his personal best?
Hernandez certainly looked happy enough with his efforts and patted his new badge proudly. Let’s hope Zinedine Zidane wasn’t watching!
The full back is certain to get a rough reception when he returns across the city to play for Real against his old club. The $24 million deal broke a gentleman’s agreement between the two Madrid giants to stay away from each other’s stars.
When Antoine Griezmann was asked about a potential summer switch earlier this year he said: “Madrid is impossible compared to my club. I believe that they have a pact between them.”
Not any longer they haven’t!
But the attacking left back isn’t without a history, despite his youth. Last month he was accused of sexual assault in Marbella, Spain – but was released without charge – after going awol from France Under-21 duty.
Now it appears he has decided on another switch, choosing to play as a senior for Spain despite representing France at every age group since U-18.
